Hello everyone!
Today I am glad to present you my personal strategy for learning new words in English. As you already know, I have some problems with my vocabulary, but I'm trying my best to fix them. I suggest you look at my ways of memorising new words!
The first way - find a story in written or electronic form that will be of interest to you. It can be a book in English, poems or articles. After reading the work you found, underline the unknown words and write them on small sheets of paper. You will have to stick them on the walls in your room. These actions will help you remember new words more easily, since now you will look at them more often. Also, a colorful work from which you chose unknown words will add emotional coloring to your learning process. This will make it more interesting and allow you to read your favorite work in the original language.
The second way is to listen to new words as often as possible. This method is most interesting to me, so I often use it in my life. From the last post you already know that I am an auditory type of student. This means that I better memorise information by listening to it. In order to learn new words, you need to listening a song while reading the lyrics. In songs you will find many new words that are often used by native English speakers. Frequent listening to music will help you remember unknown words very quickly and easily!
The third way to learn new words is to watch movies in the original language with English subtitles (not Russian subtitles). Hearing and seeing words unknown to you, you quickly memorise them because of the emotional and colorful plot of the film. This method is very similar to the first one, but may be more convenient for you.
These are the three main ways that I discovered for myself. Following these tips every day, you can develop your knowledge of lexic and become a real "Lexical Monster"! I wish you good luck! What methods of learning new words do you use?
